Dr Michael Levitt is a published senior consultant anaesthetist within the full range of surgical subspecialties including obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, faciomaxillary surgery, orthopaedics, upper GIT surgery, lower GIT surgery, urology, general surgery and vascular surgery. He has been exposed to trauma and emergency cases through his rural and regional locums.

Dr Levitt’s special interests are in the medico-legal implications of medical practice; obstetric anaesthesia and management of epidural blocks; fibre-optic intubation and difficult airway management; negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution including contract negotiation; medical indemnity insurance reform; crisis management in anaesthesia; and total quality assurance and continuing service improvement in anaesthesia.

Dr Levitt has 20 years’ medico-legal practice as an expert in anaesthesia-related matters, having appeared before the Coroner, the HCCC, Medical Tribunals and various Courts in several States in that time.
